Personal Profile
I am a counsellor trained to Post Graduate Diploma Level in Transactional Analysis and am currently in advanced clinical training. I believe it is important to continue personal and professional development in order to have an integrative approach. I work theoretically with Transactional Analysis, which is a model for change. I also work relationally, as I view the therapeutic relationship as being an important tool in order for change to occur.
I have worked extensively for Cruse Bereavement Care, where I saw individual clients and occasionally couples. I supervised other support volunteers/counsellors, sat on the management committee and trained as a childrens/young persons counsellor/support worker.
I have a modest Private Practice and am currently in the process of putting some exciting new ideas and workshops together tackling anti-social behaviour in conjunction with the local council.
Work Approach
Often in life we may find ourselves in positions that are difficult to manage. My aim is to support you in exploring your thoughts and feelings by providing a warm, safe, empathic and confidential space where you will not be judged or told what to do. I am interested in how behaviour we learned in childhood may often prove not to work so well for us as adults. These behaviours may have been learnt due to modelling from our primary care-givers or due to inconsistencies, breakdowns, trauma or abuse. As children we construct defences in order to survive and protect ourselves. These may later prove to be counter-productive in adulthood resulting in severe emotional difficulties such as re-occuring depression, low esteem or disorders of self.

I provide quality counselling for Individuals and Couples, covering a wide range of emotional issues and difficulties, and am available in offices at Keighley and Skipton. I can offer eveing and weekend appointments for people who have little free space during the working week.
I also offer Supervision for Professionals and Students.
