Personal Profile

I trained at University of Warwick and graduated with a Diploma in Person Centred Rogerian Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2002 I have experience of working in a Doctors Surgery as Counsellor , at a local University as a Student Counsellor , for Relate as a Children and Young Persons Counsellor and as a Volunteer Counsellor for a Christain counselling service. I have been in private practice for over seven years.

Prior to counselling I worked for over twelve years for social services with adults and childen with learning disabilities and adults with mental health issues . I began my experience of providing therapy through facilitating therapuetic groups to people with enduring mental health issues .

I have also trained to be a Family Mediator , which has helped inform my practice over relationship breakdowns , especially over divorce, property and childen .Currently I am still involved in working in the Mental Health system as a Mental Health Advocate .

Work Approach

My approach is very much about working in the here and now with clients , establishing a trusting and empathic relationship in which my client can explore with me whatever issues they bring to counselling . I have found my approach is very powerful for the clients I have worked with , especially over relationship issues , childhood experiences , depression and abuse .

I decided to pursue a counselling career after having experienced person centred counselling for myself , and believe that my experiences as a client have been an invaluable experience for me when working with clients, as I never forget what it is like to be in the clients chair.
