Personal Profile
I am a qualified, experienced counsellor based in Manchester. I offer person-centred counselling for many issues including anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, health issues, disability, relationships, abuse, sexuality and self-esteem. I work with adults and young people in a warm, safe and confidential environment. Creative/art therapy is also available.
My training includes: Certificate in Counselling (1997) followed by Diploma in Counselling (1997-99). As continuing professional development, I attend additional ongoing counselling training and counselling speaker events. I have a B.Sc (Hons) University degree and Reiki second degree.
I have many years post qualification experience and experience of working with a wide range of client issues in a variety of settings. I set up my private counselling practice in 2003.
Work Approach
My approach is person-centred , which is based on a fundamental belief in people and an ability to heal in a safe and supportive environment.
As a counsellor, I will facilitate and support you in your exploration of the issues you choose to talk about. I provide a warm and safe environment, allowing space to look at thoughts and feelings without being rushed or judged. I will try to understand with you what you are experiencing and help you find your own answers and ways to overcome your difficulties.
You can have as many or as few sessions as you feel you need. I am happy to talk to you on the phone as an initial free consultation before you book an appointment, so you can ask any questions you may have and to help you assess whether what I am offering feels right for you.
My own experience of emotional pain and the process of recovery enhances my personal as well as professional understanding and informs my work as a counsellor.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics and practice. I am also a member of the NHS directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners.
