Personal Profile

www.time-to-change.me.uk
I set up my own private practice in after completing a certificate and diploma in integrative counselling. Since then I have worked over 1200 session hours including work at GP practices and for employee assistance programmes and insurance companies. I am registered to government standard as a therapist. I retrained from the commercial sector i 2000 to use my skills, personal qualities and experience in work which helps individuals to change and improve their lives. During my training I worked with people recovring from severe and enduring mental illness which has broadened my knowledge and experience in the field and gives me insight and confidence in my daily work. I work from a holistic therapy centre in Kings Heath, South Birmingham and my practice has been growing and developing from strength to strength since 2005.

Work Approach

I work on an integrative model incorporating cognitive behavioural, psychodynamic (Freud) and person-centred approaches. This allows me to help clients move between difficulties in the present (negative thoughts, behaviours and interactions) and problems stemming from the past (upbringing, childhood trauma, unhelpful inherited beliefs). Being person-centred also allows me to listen to what the client wants to achieve, what are their hopes and fears about therapy and how we can work most effectively to achieve their goals in our sessions. I am also trained in brief solution-focused therapy to help clients who come for 4-6 sessions under employee assistance and insurance programmes.
