Personal Profile
Hello and a warm welcome to my profile. A full description of my practice and what it can offer you can be found at www.evolutionpsychotherapy.co.uk
It is my belief that every human being has the right to lead an authentic life in which he or she can realise their own unique potential. Our culture however places demands and obligations on us which can result in a conflict between who we really are and what we are expected to be, the result is the distress and confusion so evident in modern man as we are forced into roles that betray our true nature. Psychotherapy can help solve life's problems and reach a deeper understanding of who we are and what we really need from life.
My Client experience is broad with a particular focus on addiction, relationships, spiritual identity and stress management. My Client work has been conducted at the Highbury Counselling Centre (which offers counselling to clients with a wide range of presenting issues) and ASCA (the Addiction Support and Care Agency) which offers one to one therapy for people suffering from drug and alcohol related problems and ongoing recovery. I am currently working to expand my private practice in both West and Central London.
Work Approach
It is my own philosophy, born out of experience, that effective therapy is totally reliant on the ability of the Client and Therapist to build a strong therapeutic relationship. This relationship is based on trust and honesty. For this to develop it is essential that the Client feels safe, secure and supported by the Therapist as they move towards change.
It is therefore my first consideration that this relationship is allowed to develop in an atmosphere of warmth and empathy. My professional training in Integrative Psychotherapy means I am better able to approach each Client as the unique individual that they are. Applying techniques and interventions appropriate to them at the correct time from a broad theoretical base.
I work always from the Clients perspective. Respecting the Clients own pace, insights and intuitions. I truly believe that whatever the Client is seeking in therapy (be it answers, healing, change or transformation) the solution lies in the Client and that it is my job to help the Client walk the path to this solution. No matter how rocky the road may become I am there for my Client .
My professional training and practice implements theoretical principals from the following Schools of Psychotherapy.
- Person Centred Counselling- Core relational conditions of empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence necessary for change.
- Psychodynamic Psychotherapy- Recognition of the role of the past in the drama of the present, working to make the 'unconscious conscious' and conflict between conscious and unconscious.
- Existential Psychotherapy- Working in the here and now with issues emerging from fear of death, personal freedom and purpose in life.
- I also utilise elements of psychosynthesis and transpersonal psychotherapy which resonate with myself to give each client the best possible foundation on which to build the therapy.
I have comfortable consulting rooms in both West London (Richmond) and Percy Street (Central London).
