Personal Profile
Training: I completed a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2000, and have continued both my Professional Training and Personal Development since then with courses in Transpersonal Therapy and Psychosynthessis for personal and spiritual development. I am a registered Member of BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy).
Experience: I have a background in Management in both NHS and the voluntary sectors, having previously been a GP Practice Manager, Director of a small Mental Health Charity working with older adults with dementia, and Manager of a Counselling Service. Alongside these posts, I have maintained a private practice working with individual clients for over 15 years. I am also a Tutor of a number of on-line personal development courses for a national therapy training organisation.
I have recently extended my private practice and now also offer training workshops, retreat weekends and days in Nottinghamshire and Somerset, alongside individual sessions in Edwinstowe, North Nottinghamshire www.sweetdragonsfly.com
Work Approach
Theoretical Approach: I work creatively with clients using symbols & imagery, visualisation techniques, artwork, writing, dreamwork etc. My primary training is based in a transpersonal approach, psychosynthesis, which focuses on bringing together the different parts of us in a balance that better supports who we want to be and how we want to live our lives.
I work both on a long-term basis at depth with clients who wish to address issues from childhood, repeating patterns of behaviour, and self (re)discovery, and on a short-term basis with those who wish to address a particular current issue with a goal-oriented approach.
Personal and Professional Values: I am passionate about re-establishing the link between body, mind and spirit to rediscover a wholeness in life, and helping clients to achieve their own potential and goals. I have a personal interest in Kabbalah and Alchemy which inform all my work and further support both my creative clinical practice and continued personal and professional development.
