Personal Profile

Before embarking on my therapeutic training, I worked in a diverse range of fields that broadened my interest in human nature.

After completing a Psychology Degree, I did two introductory counselling courses in existential and gestalt therapy as well as practising counselling/befriending in a hostel for the homeless and at Victim's Support.

I trained for three years at Regent's College where I achieved a Post-Graduate Diploma and Master's Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I finished my therapeutic training at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education, which led to UKCP registration.

During this training I practiced therapy in a NHS Centre for three and a half years, as well as at Mind for two years.

I have provided therapy to people with substance abuse issues, having done such work for the Addictions Psychology Services Department of the South London & Maudsley NHS Trust.

Work Approach

I am a firm believer in Freud's and Winnicott's view of health as an ability to work, love and play. My integrative approach to psychotherapy equips me to explore the obstacles to the fulfilment of such goals.

My humanistic training emphasizes the need of an accepting, respectful attitude towards clients. This facilitates the creation of a safe, secure and confidential space which allows the client to speak freely about what is troubling them.

My psychodynamic learning expresses itself in an assessment of the barriers to health, arising from people's childhood experiences and relationships.

Kevin Spacey's statement in American Beauty : " it's a great thing in life when you know that you can still surprise yourself ", allows clarification of the existential school which is underpinned by the idea of change being integral to health. My existential approach allows me to explore factors that impede such progress, such as anxiety, which results in assessing ways of living more resourcefully.

I  work with individuals and couples and listening is integral to how I practice, as well as adding my own ideas and feelings where appropriate. I have experience of working with employees whose personal issues get in the way of their work. Also, I am a registered provider of counselling/psychotherapy services with major Private Healthcare Insurance Companies.
