Personal Profile
I completed my Counsellor training in 2002 at Leeds Metropolitan University. Since then I have added to my skills and I have trained as a Couples Counsellor with Leeds Psychotherapy Training Institute. I am also trained as a Family Mediator with ADR. I have also undertaken training in Brief Solution Focussed Therapy, Anger Management, Sexual Abuse, Sexuality Issues and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I have worked for an alcohol and drugs agency (ADS)helping people with alcohol problems. I have also worked as a student counsellor at Bradford University. I am currently working in private practice as a counsellor and Life Coach and I do a lot of work for Employment Assistance Programmes.
I used to work for many years as a matrimonial lawyer and have wide experience of helping people deal with the trauma of the breakdown of relationships. I left the law to train as a Stress Manager and set up my own practice in 1997 and worked with individuals and groups.
I have worked as a law lecturer and also taught stress management and meditation. I give stress management workshops and meditation courses in business.
Work Approach
I am committed to helping people in their life journeys to find their true potential and live as joyously and hormoniously as possible. To this end my approach is integrative and I draw on my skills and training as is most appropriate and beneficial for the client.
My training was in the Relational Approach which is a person-centred humanistic approach and I also, where appropriate, include CBT techniques, Stress Management, Brief Solution Therapy and Mindfulness. I work with people both on a long term and short term basis.
I also work as a Life Coach and help people who want to move forward and improve the satisfaction and quality of their lives. I help them to liberate themselves from negative beliefs and attitudes, build self esteem and introduce life style adjustments and enable them to achieve their goals.
