Personal Profile
I am an Integrative Humanistic Counsellor, having previously worked for many years at the Universities of Cambridge, East London and Sheffield Hallam. My academic interests are rooted in analytic philosophy, and existentialism, and I researched and taught philosophy before developing an interest in counselling that has grown over the years through voluntary working as a befriender and advisor for mental health charities and Trades Unions.
I am frequently moved and amazed by people's stories and by their courage and creativity in finding a path through life. Whatever you want to talk about, I will listen with interest and will offer you new perspectives, with a view to increasing your choices and autonomy.
Educated to Masters level, and a BACP member, I have special areas of interest and experience in Eating Disorders, Sexual Abuse, BDSM. I currently provide counselling to Sheffield Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling Service, as well as my private practice Sheffield Central Counselling
Work Approach
I aim to build a strong trusting relationship with clients and to draw on different theories and approaches. I draw on skillsand theory from Transactional Analysis, CBT, Psychodynamic and Person Centred approaches, and I encourage creativity in clients where this seems helpful.

Sheffield Central Counselling is situated in the heart of Sheffield City Centre. We offer an affordable private counselling service to individuals from all kinds of backgrounds, in a safe and pleasant environment.
All our counsellors are committed to making private counselling accessible and affordable for everyone. Our central location is easily accessible by bus and tram from all parts of Sheffield. It is particularly attractive to those who live or work in the City Centre. If you work full time it may be difficult for you to find the time to talk to a counsellor. As well as daytime sessions, we offer evening appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, so you can come for counsellling after work.
