Work Approach
I am qualified as a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists (BACP) counsellor in 2002. In 2008 I gained the status of Accredited Counsellor.
I have an excellent depth of experience in counselling individuals and couples having helped clients explore and understand issues that were having a negative effect on their lives, develop a greater self awareness and understanding of relationships, develop more effective coping strategies and life skills, in order that clients can work towards living in a more satisfying and resourceful manner. I have specific expertise in the area of gambling addiction focusing on help for gamblers and proving support for families and friends affected by a problem gambler’s addiction.
Successful results have been achieved using both person centred and cognitive behaviour therapy. Face to face sessions take place in a comfortable, fresh and welcoming counselling environment.
My base at Stourbridge is easily accessible from Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Worcester, Dudley and all other popular residential areas of the Black Country. Whether driving or using public transport, a detailed map of directions is available to clients on request.
Although I am based in Stourbridge in the West Midlands, my services hold no geographic boundaries for those with access to the internet. I have successfully pioneered an internet based software solution for counsellors, and was the first counsellor to perform an on-line session with a problem gambler. Since then I have helped develop the software to a level where on-line couple counselling is not only possible, but effective and popular. The software itself was developed by a UK company in conjunction with Nottingham Trent University with extensive input from the BACP. Between them they have covered all of the ‘questionable’ areas that on line services may present. Each session is genuinely secure. By this, we mean that the client and counsellor know exactly who the other is and that there is no possibility of third parties either invading the communications lines or breaking into the virtual counselling room. Feedback has been both positive and interesting. Not only do people living in remote locations or those suffering from disabilities that affect their mobility find it beneficial but so too do those who may find it difficult to speak face to face about sensitive issues with a stranger.
