Change of Career
My initial training and career was secretarial and I trained and worked in the field of commerce up to supervisory management. I have also worked as secretary in the medical profession in the National Health Service.
I decided to become a practicing counsellor after finishing my Honours degree at the Open University and a graduate member (GEB) at the British Psychological Society in 2000.
I began training at New College and moved on to gaining a BTec Professional Development Certificate in 2003 in Therapeutic Counselling. I practiced at the Nottingham Counselling Service (Agency) for a period of time from 2003 where I planed to further develop and specialise in the field of counselling and psychotherapy and attended the University of Nottingham where I gained a diploma and Honours degree in Humanistic Counselling.
I now practice as an Integrative Person-Centred Counsellor – for the Agency and with a private practice. In 2009 I was certificated an Approved Counsellor and added to The Approved Counsellor Scheme at NCS. I am a member of BACPS and have applied for Accreditation.
