Frequently Asked Questions
Who should join Therapy Network?
Therapy Network is open to independent and statutory sector therapeutic services, counselling services, coaches and professionals providing expert witness testimony for the Courts.
If you want to be more visible to the general public and believe in informed decision- making around psychological care and support, Therapynetwork is for you. See Benefits for more information.
How much does it cost?
If you join now, a full profile on Therapy Network is free until June 2010. You then have the option to keep your full profile for £60 per year (£5 per month) or revert to a FREE limited profile. Please see our pricing information for further details.
Who regulates the network
Therapy Network has been created by Psychology Solutions Partnership, a network of health professionals based in Bristol, UK. We are sympathetic to the needs of other professionals, and Therapy Network has been developed with these needs in mind.
As chartered psychologists with current Practising Certificates we are governed by the rules and regulations of the British Psychological Society. Our registered details can be accessed via our website Psychology Solutions Partnership.
All content on the site is monitored for appropriateness. Therapy Network enforces strong guidelines on issues of confidentiality and respect for others. Please feel free to look at our website or give us a call on 0845 077 4088 if you have any queries about the service.
Can anyone join?
The vast majority of therapists, counsellors and coaches are highly competent and operate within the strongest standards of professional practice.
Unfortunately there will always be exceptions, and Therapy Network does all it can to try and establish a professional's legitimacy. We request evidence of professional membership (e.g. BPS, UKCP, HPC) at sign-up. We cannot provide a full profile without this information.
As long as professional membership can be established there are no restrictions as to the type of therapists, counsellors and coaches that can join us. However, we will only be able to provide information on the site about common therapeutic approaches, so if your own practice is less mainstream you may have to provide your own information and web links to ensure that clients are well-informed.
Do I have to write articles?
No! The article feature is there for those who want to put their views and expertise across. There are no penalties for those who don't want to contribute.
Writing articles can however increase your profile on the site and bring you to the attention of more people. It can also be fun, and a great learning experience for the community as a whole.
I'm starting out in private practice. How can Therapy Network help?
Starting out in private practice can be daunting. The thought of establishing a steady stream of work, finding support and supervision, and dealing with tax issues can be enough to put people off completely.
Marketing
Therapy Network aims to become the pre-eminent directory for psychological support services in the UK. We will be marketing extensively to the general public when we launch in July and will maintain a strong Google search profile. We will bring people to the site, and your profile should do the rest.
Support for Yourself
Finding advice, support and supervision is obviously crucial. Therapy Network can help you to find others in your area who could provide these services for you. This is particularly important if you are a sole-practitioner.
Web Presence
As well as providing a well-publicised listing on our directory, your Therapy Network profile is so well-designed and comprehensive that you will be able to use it as your website too. We offer the quickest and easiest way for independent practitioners to establish a web presence. This is increasingly important to the public in terms of establishing the credibility of a person or service.
Tax, IT and Legal Support
These issues can seem terrifying, but they don't need to be. We have associates in these fields who could help you to get the basics right. Contact us if you require more information.
How do we validate qualifications and professional memberships?
Therapy Network aims to provide safe and helpful information to the public. Part of this involves making sure that the professionals listed on the site have appropriate qualifications and professional memberships. To do this we will need to see copies of your certificates.
There are two ways of sending them to us. You could fax them to 0845 307 2051, or if you have electronic / scanned copies you can email them to validation@therapynetwork.co.uk.
If you are faxing your certificates you will find printable front-sheets for each one under the 'Documents' section of your profile. You will have to log in to your account to view and print these sheets.
We try to update your records as soon as possible but there is sometimes a delay of a few days depending on other work commitments.
